I changed the header image, these are the lyrics of Monty Got A Raw Deal.
I could say something about Monty Clift and the content of the song, but I don’t know that much about him or his career, REM as a whole or why Micheal Stipe chose him as a subject for the track.
This is why it’s so strange; I don’t know why I like the song so much. it could be the acoustic feel, the bashing of the drums, the harmony where it goes “waste your breath”. When I listen to Automatic for the People all the way through it certainly stands out as the best song. it’s not album filler, it sums up the entire feeling of the album.
Hugely under-rated song, but you might have to listen to the album in its entirety to really appreciate it.
