Ely

Ely Cathederal, with a horse in the foreground. Ely is unique for having an octagonal tower. It’s one of my favourites.

Writer?

Amongst my usual job searching yesterday I came across this article on gumtree for writers, poets, arty people, photographers and so on for a new magazine. It seems to be right up my street, libertine, alternative culture and a chance to perhaps submit some proper writing or work for a publication, under a pseudonym of course.

So, I might start doing a bit more creative writing or posting of artwork on here for you all (even if you might be looking for Alison Mosshart, that’s what most of you are searching for). Feedback would be nice, I’ve not attempted writing before.

And to celebrate, some Manchester architecture. This building is nicknamed the Filing Cabinet.

In this blog Tim Chortle mercilessly torments companies with frankly hysterical enquiries to test their response.

It also has a fun Jackson Pollock widget thing.

Ball

That’s it, I’m a graduate. I’ve finished university and we celebrated with a graduation ball (which was organised by two students, well done).

I’ve spent the last three years going out to dingy clubs and smart/casual student nights out. To have a champagne reception with a string quartet, dressed in a smart suit and then a meal (with wine, not cheap lager) and live music from a swing band, was fantastic. It was a proper celebration of my univiersity years.

My parents have been to a few formal events down in London over the last few years, and every time they’ve said how great it was. They have been to Whitehall and the Guildhall though, which is a bit posher to be honest, but I finally got a taste of it myself. I could get used to it.
