More music videos

This is getting pretty difficult, since YouTube has restricted viewing of music videos in this country due to copyright (boo). I wanted to post up this which is Everyday I Love You Less And Less by The Kaiser Chiefs, which I love for many reasons.

Then I wanted to post this which is I Heard Wonders by David Holmes and features a Parisian romance amongst the student riots of ’68. Unfortunately I can’t post that from YouTube either.

And then I remembered this video which is Star Guitar by The Chemical Brothers, another smashing Michel Gondry video, but that wasn’t available on YouTube either. So fuck it, I’m going to give up with this music video lark. Bloody copyright companies. What’s the point in making a music video if you can’t watch it anywhere?

Go here now and watch episode 1 of Citizen Smith. I promise you will not be disappointed. From there you can watch the following five episodes as well, and you have until about midnight on Wednesday the 29th.

There are so many programs on TV that big-up Britain. Coast, Britain’s Great Drives, all that sort of stuff, but Smith takes a look from a different angle. Starting with Hartlepool and then going on to tackle features of modern day Britain and how they’ve changed since he were a lad. (Hartlepool is up north). It’s good to see this hugely different realistic view of Britain coming from an artistic, working class person rather than a privately-schooled, professional presenter. It’s refreshing.

If you want to know more, read this Guardian article.

Pray watch at least one episode, it’s better than playing tetris for half an hour.

60-unbelieveable

I saw this on Break and had to post it.

Also, go have a look here if you like bad translations.

Another tribute

Sir Clement Freud has passed on, grandson of the famous psychoanalyst, and brother of the famous artist.

I thought I’d devote a bit of my webspace to him, he was by far my favourite contestant on Just A Minute (which if you haven’t listened to, you really should) and a multi-talented man of sorts. I suppose he’s succeeded by Paul Merton now on Just A Minute, I’m sure his low, grumpy old man approach will be missed.

I think this BBC slideshow is pretty good.
