A very simple website, photographs of stuff written on walls.

I’ve looked through album 1 and decided my eyes were going square, and so stopped. Very interesting/funny though.

A font walks into a bar. The bartender says “Hey, we don’t serve your type here.” and he called the Serif.

Geeky moment I’m affraid.

I also liked:

A sans-serif face walks into the street and is hit by a Swiss Modernist truck. The carnage is grotesk… but you know, akzidenz happen.

One thing I’ve noticed about people’s social lives at the moment is the importance of stories. To interact with new people, something I’ve been doing a lot of recently, you need stories by the thousand.

Everyone has them, everyone does it, and until now I’ve not really realised it. I’ve been telling the same stories to different people I’ve been getting to know over the last two weeks. It’s a way of showing you have something in common with someone else, a way of connecting and sympathising with them.

Strangely, I find it easier to tell pretty much complete strangers personal details about my life. I once spilt entirely to a forty-five year old bloke on the bus. I tell boys different stories than I tell to girls. I sometimes run out of stories because I have no more on that particular subject, and there’s an awkward silence.

I don’t need to tell you how to get to know people, but you’ll be a hugely more interesting person if you can talk about any subject at any level of detail. After a while of knowing someone you don’t need to talk about your stories and personal experiences as much, topics of conversation move to current affairs and stuff, but the getting to know phase is the crucial part of making friends, so here is where the effort should be made most.

Of course, you can’t have stories without the experience in the first place. So in order to be a more interesting person you need to go out and do more, get to know more people to share their experiences and try as many things as possible to cover as many subjects as you can. If you can’t physically do it, read up on it and take interest. Life is all about experience, so try to always say yes.
