Behold some mesmorising footage of a solid fuel rocket ejecting from the space shuttle and falling back down to earth.
The action starts at about 1.50, if you watch to the end you get to see the splashdown and parachutes.

It’s technically a Boosey & Hawkes Cornet, which I was given. The other went to the salvation army.
I can’t play the trumpet at all, but after seeing it I thought I should learn. I can only play about four notes, it’s so difficult, and you have to have huge lungs. I was given some sheet music books for the trumpet as well, so I can teach myself.
I’ll get the hang of it eventually.
Wish I could have got a better photo.

So I wake up this morning and find about 3 inches of snow. Awesome.

And more to come!

It’s not often I get chatting to someone on the train, sometimes it’s good and sometimes it isn’t. Today I was talking to a bloke called Lewis who worked for Mercedes.
He looked older than 18, and he had a better job than an 18 year-old needs. He spent his money, lives with his girlfriend (fiance*) and we went outside for a cigarette when we got chucked off the train at Leeds. It was a bit random considering we’d only just met, but you’ve got to make friends somewhere.
Anyway, thanks for the company mate.

I present to you the photography of Steve Harrison. Unfortunately he died last year, I’m glad his work has been brought to light.
Have a look at the flikr slideshow thing.
The themes are social injustice, the gap between rich and poor. I suppose it’s his way of seeing it that I like, I don’t know, I can’t put my finger on it.
There’s a BBC article as well.

BBC four have made a documentary about the battle of Culloden in a very new and interesting way.
If you watch many history documentary things, it’s normally a historian walking around, saying “this is where so and so happened”, some snazzy computer animations and lots of old pictures.
“Written and directed by Peter Watkins, it is presented as a news report from the battlefield. English soldiers and their Highland counterparts are interviewed as the film reconstructs one of the country’s bloodiest battles.”
I find it much more engaging than watching Simon Schama walking around an abbey talking. It makes it a lot more believable and gives you a very personal account.
++UPDATE++
It’s not “new” as I described. It was made in the 60s.

Long story short. John Humphrys (who can barely read web addresses) isn’t a fan of twitter, people sent him this link by Douglas Adams. Enjoy.
