I’m meant to be designing some website thing as a mini-project for someone I might get some work from. These are the fruits of my labour:

[there should be an image in here, saying graphic design is shit, or something, but it didn't work and I can't be bothered trying to make it]

I’ve left it until the last minute, as usual. I’ve spent most of these last minutes with my head in my hands or getting frustrated. I’m sick to the teeth with it. Actually, graphic design in general. Designers are wankers.

Christmas by colour is a non-profit thing set up by some designers at Raw. Fed up with typical reds and greens, they put it to the public to choose some new colours that really associate with Christmas. It’s going to be on a poster and cards apparently. I chose some kind of orangey colour and named it “The last roses in the tin”.

Christmas By Colour

Have a look at the blog they have over there, my name’s on the  list along with a couple of my tutors, funnily enough.

Nothing too flashy

I’ve always loved the Belle & Sebastian album covers, and the new BBC Sessions album is no exception. It’s the photography I love, look at Dear Catastrophy Waitress. That type is really nice as well.

It’s just like the band. Not over popular, not too flashy, not a ground-breaking cover like say Nirvana – Nevermind, but that’s the point. That’s what Belle & Sebastian are like.

Find it here on their website.

Another thing I thought up whilst doing work.

I’m trying to think up some witty/satirical political statements to put on a t shirt.

If you’ve got a burning idea let me know!

A font walks into a bar. The bartender says “Hey, we don’t serve your type here.” and he called the Serif.

Geeky moment I’m affraid.

I also liked:

A sans-serif face walks into the street and is hit by a Swiss Modernist truck. The carnage is grotesk… but you know, akzidenz happen.

Typographunnies.

Photofudge it

Put up a new link for you.

Photoshop Disasters gives you examples of pretty badly photoshopped pictures from magazines, the web etc… It makes you realise that you can’t believe every picture you see to be completely true to life. Of course, there’s always been airbrushing for glossy magazine covers, but you may not realise the full extent to which pictures are altered.

Or in this case, how badly! Have a giggle.

Strange resemblance

Who’s this? Remind you of someone?

Awesome model-making skills by Wilfrid Wood.

And no, it’s not me, but he is from Yorkshire.

Well, there he is. bet that doesn’t help much though.

Uncanny resemblence for a plastacine model I think.

Well, time up. If you didn’t get it, it’s Alex Turner of the Artic Monkeys.
